I'm Seiko. Thank you for your nice presentation. Though I use facebook everyday, I rarely think about it so deeply. I think the reason why SNS spread rapidly is that there were so much potential demands and it is actually useful. I feel it useful especially when I contact friends living in foreign countries and share photos with them. And the services given by the facebook to tell me the new friends who have mutual friends are very nice. But it is also true that some crimes are happening using SNS. On facebook usually people use it by their true name, but on mixi we do not have to reveal the actual name. This characteristic might cause crimes. Since people assume that it is difficult to be found, they are more likely to say something bad to others. But I think if the user try to be careful toward those seems to be bad people, it does not matter. So, SNS is quite useful and I think it will spread more and more even in Japanese society.
By the way, it was surprising for me that you do not have any account of any SNS. Probably you will feel necessity to have one when you start to study in Europe.
Hello. I am Ryosuke. In my opinion, the need of regulation depends on each states. Countries which admit the freedom of expression should not regulate the SNSs. For example, Japanese government should admit the right to expression by constitution and laws. Therefore, Japanese government basically should not regulate them, and I think they cannot regulate them because of constitution. On the other hand, China prohibits to access to twitter and Facebook. This is acceptable because this is the chinese government policy. Information control is extremely difficult problem, and it is very hard to generalize it all over the world.
PS I am going to stay China for a month this coming March. I am really worried about not access to facebook cuz I am addicted to facebook.
Thanks for your stimulating presentation about SNS. As far as I am concerned, the advantages of SNS websites seem to outweigh the disadvantages. Although it is true that some people consider SNS websites discourage people to cherish face-to-face communication, it seems in general to serve as lubricating oil of human relationships. It is because we can share many things such as pictures and diaries of travels and events, from which we can learn new topics for conversation and more about values of each other. Above all, in facebook, people are as well-nigh responsible as in the reality for their remarks because all those who registered in the websites must use their real names. Therefore, I am basically optimistic about the recent trend that the number of users of SNS is growing.
Thank you for the interesting presentation. Actually I am one of SNS users so I really enjoyed your presentation. I check SNS almost everyday and find it very useful and amusing because I can share photos and information, and also have a chat with my friends whenever I want. Another strong point is that it enables me to contact to friends in foreign countries. If there is no SNS, I will never do that, I guess. Yet you introduced some negative points of SNS like cyber bullying. I think these are matters of users' moral, so SNS itself has no problem. That users and people around them keep in mind to make use of SNS properly is important.
Hi May. I enjoyed your presentation about SNS. As many people participate in Facebook, Twitter or in mixi, the topic was timely and stimulating. Since I'm the user of Facebook and mixi, I sometimes feel bound by it. The issue of SNS may be the dangerous encounters to strangers, as discussed. Regulating the users by age could prevent these problems temporary, but not long. The users' responsibilities are required when using the Internet and we should take careful action.
